why our school
Why Our Community Needs This School
A school designed for our community — where teachers can teach, parents are partners, and every child is seen.
Community Charter School was founded by local parents, educators, and leaders who wanted something different — a school that truly belongs to the people it serves.
From the beginning, we’ve designed CCS to be community-powered. Families have a voice in shaping programs. Local organizations and mentors enrich classrooms with real-world expertise. Together, we are building not just a school, but a movement — one that brings people together to help children thrive.
To make that connection real every day, we use a simple digital tool called the Student Information System (SIS) — a secure, one-stop platform that keeps families and teachers connected. Parents can check in on progress, get updates, and communicate easily with teachers. Teachers can share successes and needs in real time. It’s technology designed to strengthen relationships, ensuring that every child’s learning journey is truly a shared one.
Our Difference
We teach how to think, not what to think.
Students learn by doing, exploring, and creating.
We value integrity, inquiry, and community involvement.
Smart Technology, Human Teaching
Technology at CCS doesn’t replace teachers — it empowers them.
Our integrated systems handle attendance, grading, assessments, and communication automatically. This efficiency frees teachers to focus on what matters most: relationships and real learning.
Teachers spend their time engaging with students, guiding discussions, mentoring, and nurturing curiosity — not managing paperwork. In our classrooms, human connection is at the center.
Learning That Fits Every Child
Every child learns differently — and we celebrate that.
At CCS, learning isn’t standardized — it’s customized. Our teachers use insight, data, and creativity to shape each student’s experience around their strengths, interests, and goals. Whether a child needs more challenge, extra support, or a different way to explore an idea, we adapt the system to the student — not the other way around.
We use the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to make this happen. It’s a responsive approach that helps us notice each student’s needs early and provide just the right kind of help. MTSS also ensures that services like special education, English Language Learning, electives, and enrichment are fully integrated into one seamless, flexible framework — so that personalization and choice are built into every child’s day.
The result is liberating: a school where every student can grow at their own pace, explore what excites them, and feel genuinely known and supported.

AP and College-Readiness
Preparing Students for Life After Graduation
We believe every student should graduate with real choices — confident, capable, and prepared for whatever comes next. At CCS, college readiness isn’t an afterthought; it’s built into the entire high school experience. Students gain access to Advanced Placement (AP) courses, dual-enrollment opportunities, and rigorous electives that challenge them to think deeply, write clearly, and engage with complex ideas.
Our advising team helps students explore interests, map out pathways, and understand how their strengths connect to future careers and college options. Whether a student is aiming for a four-year university, a technical program, military service, or entrepreneurship, we equip them with the academic skills, habits, and mentorship needed to step into adulthood with confidence and purpose.
Sports and Extracurriculars
Opportunities to Grow Beyond the Classroom
We know that students grow not just in classrooms, but on fields, in clubs, on stages, and everywhere they find passion and belonging. CCS offers a developing athletics program along with a wide range of extracurricular activities that help students build teamwork, resilience, leadership, and school spirit.
From competitive sports to interest-based clubs, students have opportunities to try new things, discover talents, and form friendships that anchor them in community. Our coaches and advisors emphasize character, effort, and integrity — ensuring that every activity, whether athletic or creative, becomes a meaningful part of each student’s journey.
